Whatever the weather, you can meet for a friendly game of Carpet Bowls at Swarland Village Hall betwen 7.00pm and 9.00pm on Thursday evenings.
There’s nothing finer than the sound of cracking woods on a fine summer evening. Bowls has been a traditional pastime for many generations in the North of England, and the big advantage of the indoor version of the game is that it can be played in any weather.
Played on a special mat, with 4 inch biased ‘woods’, carpet bowls is a game of skill and strategy that’s open to players of any age, gender or ability.
The benefits of this gentle pastime include, companionship and the opportunity for good crack, as well as stretching the tendons with a bit of competitive sport.
